Best Areas for Coworking in West Lahore: Sabzazar, Iqbal Town and Multan Road

Lahore’s coworking industry grew up around Gulberg, DHA and Johar Town, because that is where the client-facing companies and the well-funded startups were. West Lahore was left out, despite having an enormous population of people who work remotely.

This is a plain look at the western neighbourhoods — who works there, what the area offers, and what is missing.

Sabzazar

Dense, residential, and quietly full of freelancers. Sabzazar has a large population of people billing overseas clients, plus small e-commerce operations and support teams. It sits just off the Multan Road corridor with its own Orange Line station.

What it has: affordable housing, a working market, an Orange Line stop, and a police station in Block G that makes late hours practical. What it lacked until recently: anywhere to work that was not your own house. Our floor at Sarwar Plaza in Block G exists specifically because of that gap.

Allama Iqbal Town

One of the largest planned residential areas in the city, and one of the least served for workspace. Karim Block, Nizam Block, Hunza Block and the rest hold a big professional population — and almost no commercial workspace beyond shops and small offices in the markets.

Households here tend to be large, which is the practical problem: a client call from home is a call with a household in the background. The nearest real coworking option is Sabzazar, roughly ten minutes away.

Karim Market

A trading area rather than a working one. Cloth, garments, accessories, wholesale and retail — and, increasingly, a lot of online business run out of shops that were never designed as offices.

If you sell online from a Karim Market shop, the constraint is not space, it is interruption and infrastructure. Customers walk in. The plaza’s internet is whatever it is. Power goes and the shutter comes down with it. This is the group that gains most from a desk ten minutes away that is only a desk.

The Multan Road corridor

The spine of the west side. The Orange Line runs along it with stations at Awan Town, Sabzazar, Shahnoor and Salahuddin Road on this stretch, which makes the whole corridor unusually well connected for a part of Lahore that gets little attention.

Commercial space directly on Multan Road is priced as commercial space. A short turn off the road — which is where Sabzazar sits — gets you the access without the frontage cost.

Samnabad

Older, established, centrally placed. Samanabad has its own Orange Line station, which means the journey west along the corridor is predictable in a way that driving Multan Road at 6 PM is not.

The housing stock is older, which matters more than it sounds: smaller rooms, older wiring, and less scope to build a proper working setup at home. Sabzazar is fifteen to twenty minutes west.

Awan Town, Hassan Town and Mustafa Town

Awan Town is the easiest of the three to reach us from — it is the neighbouring Orange Line station to Sabzazar. It has a young working population, a lot of it in IT support, sales and freelance work.

Hassan Town sits between Multan Road and Wahdat Road and skews towards people employed by companies rather than self-employed — remote staff on fixed hours, and evening-shift support workers. Mustafa Town, along Wahdat Road near the university belt, has the highest concentration of students and recent graduates starting out in freelance work.

What west Lahore still does not have

Choice. There is no version of this article where you compare six spaces and pick the best one, because there are not six spaces. If you want the honest summary: the west side has one properly equipped coworking floor, in Sabzazar, and the alternative is a forty-minute drive east.

That will change as the area’s remote-working population keeps growing. Until it does, the practical question is not which west Lahore space to choose — it is whether a local desk beats your kitchen table, and whether it beats the commute to Gulberg.
